Returning to civilian life is difficult enough. Navigating nutritional health and wellness after the military can be torturous as you may feel like you have a total loss of control, no hunger cues, no satiety cues, and not a clue on how to eat normally. You no longer need to adhere to your 60 second chow time or rely on MRE's in the field. Let the experts help you to reconnect with food and your body again with individualized nutritional programs.
Our dietitian is specialized in helping people recover from an eating disorder, that may have been present before the military, or was the result of the military. Unfortunately, military personnel and veterans are at a high risk for eating disorders or disordered eating patterns due to weight and physical fitness requirements, PTSD, military sexual trauma, and psychological impacts of not having food readily available. Our goal is to help you change the way you perceive food and fitness in civilian life and develop a positive body image and relationship with food. Nutritional health counseling can help you achieve food and body freedom today.
Our dietitian is all-to-familiar with the gastrointestinal distress that most veterans and active duty military struggle with. From acid reflux and indigestion, to bloating, cramps, diarrhea and urgency, a service-members gut is likely never the same after serving our country. However, you don't need to live in agony. We can help to reset your gut microbiome and manage the symptoms you may be experiencing from military life with our nutritional programs and counseling.
Amanda has two Masters of Science degrees- Applied Exercise Physiology and Nutrition, Healthspan, & Longevity. Before becoming a dietitian, Amanda worked in Strength and Conditioning, with experience at the University of Central Florida, as well as Johnson and Johnson. Before long, Amanda decided to pursue a career in her first passion: nutrition. She found her true purpose working with patients who struggle with eating disorders and co-occurring conditions, which lead her to become a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist. Now working with veterans, Amanda has experienced the effects of military life on veterans' nutritional psychology and overall health. She is determined to serve our active -duty military and veterans and guide them through the very unfamiliar territory of adapting to nutrition in the civilian life. Amanda loves to educate and counsel her patients in order to elicit a behavioral change, which ultimately allows for food freedom and body respect. The goal of Corps Nutrition is to allow our heroes to become comfortable with food, enjoy all foods, and assist with any clinical manifestations they may be experiencing from military life.
